AbleSail Okanagan, British Columbia, is offering full time summer employment for sailing instructors/assistants to work with some very special people in beautiful Kelowna, BC.
Job Description:
- sail with and instruct sailors with disabilities
- rig and de-rig the boats
- help maintain the fleet in good working order
- assist with scheduling sails
- help with racing clinics and participate in integrated racing with KYC Fleet
- drive power coach boat for safety and instructional purposes

You will spend the majority of your time actually SAILING with people, rather than being in a motorized coach boat.

We work with people with various challenges including visual impairments and other physical challenges as well as some cognitive challenges.

We offer our sailors instruction, companionship and racing opportunities. Our program utilizes a fleet of Martin 16 sailboats as well as a motorized coach boat.

Instructors should be under the age of 30 to allow us to utilize our Canada Summer Jobs grant.
We will give PREFERENCE to a qualified candidate with a DISABILITY.
Pay commensurate with experience.

VOLUNTEERING
AbleSail Okanagan has got to be one of the happiest places to volunteer. Where else do you get to be at or on the lake with a happy bunch of people in the summertime?
OPPORTUNITIES
Open House Volunteers – to help greet visitors to the club and help with the BBQ as well as jobs described below.
Skilled Sailors – to sail along with our clients who are still learning how to sail or who want companionship.
Skilled Motor Boat Operators – to help out in our coach boat. Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) and radio license required (we can help if you don’t have this yet).
Dock Personnel – to help get people in and out of boats. This would require some training which we are happy to provide.
Board Members – we have a fair sized, active board but we are always looking for people who might round out some of our skill sets.
